2. Verify Insurance
Gouffon Moving and Storage Co. always includes $7.00 / lb. insurance in our quotations. Make sure your mover of choice, in writing, is very clear about what level of insurance is included in their quotation. Request a certificate of insurance to verify the mover actually has a policy in place to cover their stated insurance limits. Then, make sure the provided insurance is satisfactory for your needs and exposures.
3. Verify “Performance Guarantee”
Make sure your mover of choice has a significant penalty and much motivation to perform your move as agreed upon. Get this in writing. It is not uncommon for movers to cancel or no show a move if a more profitable opportunity presents itself. Gouffon Moving and Storage Co. offers a “$500 Performance Guaranty” on all of our residential jobs. What this means is if, for any reason, we do not perform the job as agreed upon (date of move) ,we will discount your move $500. We have never “no showed” or backed out of a booked move in 128 years.
4. Verify Source of Employees

We feel it is always a good idea to fully understand what type of workers your mover of choice will be utilizing to perform the move. Reliance on random pickup and part time help is very common in the moving and storage industry. Gouffon Moving and Storage Co. only utilizes full time employees on our moving crews. We do not use temp service or pickup help. We are fortunate to be in a position to do this because of the high volume of local moving we book. Items # 2 and # 3 above become even more critical if a mover is planning on staffing your move with pickup help.
